Training

The Training Division is led by Captain Denver Atwood.

The Command Staff implemented continuing education through local colleges, the Project Management Professionals program, and received 27 hours of training in Leadership Development. Additionally, officers completed a total of 11,657 hours of POST training. Each officer completed the Use of Force and De-escalation Options for Gaining Compliance training and Fostering Positive Community Relation training as required by the Governor’s Initiative training requirements of 2017. Officers also received specialized training in Advanced Drug Interdiction Techniques and Youth Mental Health First Aid. Two Lieutenants became certified instructors in the Crowd Management and Mobile Field Force, and 5 officers became certified in the Georgia Crisis Intervention Team Program. 

In 2017, several programs and training were implemented. Those programs included the Take Home Vehicle program and the Master Patrolman program.
