Animal Control
The Animal Control Unit consists of two Animal Control Officers who enforce City and State animal control laws and respond to calls concerning domestic and wild animals.

Communications
The City of Newnan's Communications Center handles several hundred calls each month. They dispatch police and animal control. They also communicate with code enforcement and the city street department.

Criminal Investigations
The Criminal Investigations Division consists of 4 Detective Sergeants and 5 Detectives who handle anything from misdemeanors to serious felonies.

Drug & Vice
The Drug and Vice Unit investigates crimes related to violations of the Georgia Control Substance Act, as well as alcohol, tobacco, and gambling violations, prostitution, and gang activity.

Professional Standards
The Office of Professional Standards supports the mission statement and core values of the Newnan Police Department and is responsible for conducting internal affairs investigations, background investigations, and maintaining certification records and standards.

School Resource
The School Resource Unit patrols school campuses and provide security for the students, staff, and the facility.

Special Response Team (S.R.T.) (S.W.A.T.)
The sole purpose of the Newnan Police Department's Special Response Team is to assist the Department in achieving its mission of providing efficient and effective law enforcement service to our community by providing highly trained and motivated personnel trained in the use and deployment of special weaponry and advanced tactics.

Traffic Unit
The Newnan Police Department's Traffic Unit includes one (1) Traffic Lieutenant, one (1) Traffic Corporal, and three (3) Traffic Officers.

Training
The Command Staff implemented continuing education through local colleges, the Project Management Professionals program, and received 27 hours of training in Leadership Development.

The Patrol Division is generally the first responder to an incident.
