Today at approximately 2:06 p.m. the Newnan Police Department responded to reports of gunshots fired near Salbide Avenue and Thompson Street. Police discovered a deceased male, Willie Charles Hunter, 60, and a female who received non-life threatening injuries. A deceased dog was also found at the scene.  The male suspect was apprehended near the scene and is believed to have acted alone.  The suspect is expected to be charged with homicide, aggravated assault, and animal cruelty.
