Today at 3:46 p.m. the Newnan Police Department responded to the area of Newnan High School in reference to a gun being pointed at a driver. Police were able to locate the individuals involved and determined that one male driver pulled up beside another vehicle near downtown Newnan and pointed a gun.  The victim then drove away from the male pointing the gun and traveled towards the area of Newnan High School, where he was headed to pick up his child from school.  The Newnan Police Department was contacted and stopped the offender’s vehicle and made an arrest.  The weapon was located in the vehicle during the arrest.  The incident did not take place on school property and the weapon was never shown on school property. No direct threat was made at or towards the school.
