Scott Berta has served on the city council since January 2026. Mr. Berta was born in Richmond, Virginia, but has called Newnan home since 1977.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he majored in Forest Resources with an emphasis in timber management in 2000. In 2024, he graduated with a Masters in Public Administration from the University of West Georgia. Other educational programs completed include the Georgia Academy of Economic Development, Leadership Coweta, and Leadership Georgia.

Mr. Berta has been engaged in the community through Keep Newnan Beautiful, Boys and Girls Club of Newnan-Coweta, Patrons of the Nixon Centre, Boy Scouts of America, coaching youth soccer, and nominated for citizen of the year in 2022 and 2025.

He enjoys spending time with his family and friends.
